SUPPORT FOR OUR TROOPS

Pennsylvania Masons continue to provide strong support for our military personnel serving overseas. To date, the "Change for Our Troops" program established by Past Grand Master Steve Gardner and supported by Past Grand Masters Tom Sturgeon and Jay W. Smith and by current Grand Master Robert J. Bateman, has provided $750,175.71 in support of our troops. Donations to this program from brethren across the Commonwealth have provided calling cards for Pennsylvania soldiers deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq, and to injured soldiers at Ramstein Regional Medical Center near Landstuhl, Germany, and at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The program finances: baby showers at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, Fort Indian Town Gap (PA National Guard), Willow Grove (PA National Guard) and Pittsburgh (coming this Fall 2014); telemedicine for our troops' children between Dover Air Force Base and Jefferson University Hospital; a day at Great Adventure for children of deployed soldiers out of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst; Wreaths across America; Moms for Marines; Christmas parties for troops' families at the Greater Pittsburgh Masonic Center and for children with special needs at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst; projects at The Veterans group Home; child day care for children of deployed soldiers; the Friends of Bike Project for soldiers with injuries or disabilities at Willow Grove; and mentors for Veterans Courts. See issues of "The Pennsylvania Freemason" for additional information on the program.
