REOUIREMENTS WHICH MUST BE MET BY THOSE SEEKING HIGHER EDUCATION LOANS:
- The applicant must be a Master Mason who is a Member in Good Masonic Standing of
a Symbolic Lodge working under the Jurisdiction of Grand Lodge of
Pennsylvania or be the wife, son, daughter, brother, sister, grandson,
granddaughter, nephew or niece of a living or deceased Member of a
Masonic Lodge under the Jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of
Pennsylvania, who is in Good Masonic Standing, or was at the time of
his death. Active members of Pennsylvania DeMolay, Pennsylvania
Rainbow and Pennsylvania Job's Daughters are also eligible. (Revised

- The applicant must be a full time student, and must be sponsored by a Masonic Lodge
working under the Jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania.
- The applicant must complete, with satisfactory grades, (a 2.50 or better on a 4.00 scale), the first year or
equivalent thereof of an accredited course of higher education leading
to a Bachelor's Degree and must be registered for the second year or
equivalent thereof.
PROCEDURES FOR OBTAINING AN APPLICATION FOR A HIGHER EDUCATION LOAN:
- Applicant for a loan contacts a Member of a Masonic Lodge or Youth Group Advisor.
- The Member/Youth Group Advisor contacts the Secretary of his Lodge to procure an application.
- The Lodge makes a preliminary investigation to determine whether or not the applicant meets the requirements.
- If the applicant meets the requirements, the Lodge Secretary either refers the applicant to the Grand Lodge website to print an application out, or requests a blank form of application from the Office of the Grand
Secretary using the Request for Application Form. (See reverse side)
- The Lodge Secretary, upon receiving the Application Form, forwards it to the applicant for completion.
- The applicant returns the completed form to the Lodge.
- After reviewing the completed form, the Lodge takes action to approve or reject sponsorship of the applicant.
- If the Lodge adopts a Resolution to sponsor the applicant, the Lodge Secretary will complete that portion of the application form
applicable to the Lodge, affix the seal of the Lodge thereto, and
return the completed form to the Office of the Grand Secretary.
- The Committee on Education Gifts and Loans will approve or reject
the application, and notify the Lodge and the applicant of the
acceptance or rejection.
OTHER ITEMS OF INTEREST:
- Loans shall not exceed $2,000.00 per school year and shall be made
payable to the applicant and college or university jointly. The
applicant and responsible Co-maker(s) must sign a Loan Note for the
full amount of the loan.
- Full repayment of the loan must be made within four years and six months
immediately following the date of the applicant's graduation from
undergraduate school, termination of undergraduate education, or graduation from an accredited graduate school if the applicant has applied for and received a deferral of the Loan. Interest at 6% per annum on the unpaid balance becomes due at the beginning of the repayment period.
- All checks shall be made payable to "Grand Lodge, F&AM of PA."
