Saying Goodbye
After 30 years with the Masonic Library and Museum of Pennsylvania, Dr. Glenys A. Waldman, Librarian, is retiring this year.
Dr. Waldman, the first female and first professionally-trained librarian at the Masonic Library, was the last to hold the title of Librarian and Curator, 2000-2005. As the curatorial responsibilities of the Museum became more complex, she became Librarian in 2005, and Bro. Dennis P. Buttleman, Jr., was named Curator. Catherine L. Giaimo, Assistant Librarian since 1996, will take on the responsibilities of Librarian upon Dr. Waldman’s retirement.

You have always been there when we Grand Masters needed your assistance. On a more personal note I would like to thank you for your hard work making the dream of a Book on the Masonic Temple come to fruition. God bless you and I hope the dreams you may have for your future come true.”

“Glenys was my best helper during my time as Grand Master. She wrote the lodge histories I gave to the Lodge members and did the research for my speeches. She was always available to help when needed and I appreciated her service to the Library.
“One thing I’ll tell, that she probably won’t like, is that when she got the position of Librarian I made her take a management course at Drexel and promised to pay for it if she passed the course. She did!
“She was always very nice to my wife, Barb, and will be very much missed at Grand Lodge.”

“I have had the pleasure of working with Glenys for a considerable number of years and have referred to her frequently as our in-house intellectual.
“Very frankly, she probably knows more concerning the history and operation of Freemasonry than perhaps the majority of our members. This is simply the result of the years of research she has been involved with and her commitment to accuracy in performance of her responsibilities. I cannot recall an instance in which she failed to respond to any questions that I had.
“Her respect outside of the Grand Lodge with other Masonic organizations has created a positive image for Pennsylvania Freemasonry.
“Her knowledge of Grand Lodge operation is replaceable. She will be missed.
“I thank her for all the help she has given me and wish her well.”
