Indian Echo Caverns – 368 Middletown Road in Hummelstown, PA
Catered dinner: 5 to 6:45 p.m.
Meeting: 7 p.m.
Cost: $35 (Caverns tours are separate and optional – discounted price of $12)
The degree will be held at the cave’s entrance with the preparing room as the cave itself. For 2018, the Entered Apprentice Mason’s degree will be conferred, different from that of the last Cave Degree, as each event will rotate what degree will be conferred. Seating will be alongside the fence near the beautifully flowing Swatara Creek. Brethren will notice a peaceful breeze rustling through the leaves, crickets chirping, birds of all kinds singing, toads and bullfrogs croaking, water flowing along the bank of the creek, and an occasional airplane in the distance to give the whole occasion closeness to nature that never happens in an enclosed lodge room. It provides for a truly unique ambiance for all present.
During dinner, there will be discounted 45-minute tours (5 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.), available for anyone to see the caverns. These tours offer brethren the option to enjoy some entertainment between the meal and the meeting. Brethren may either eat at 5 p.m. and take a tour at 5:45 p.m., or enjoy taking a tour at 5 p.m. and eat afterward. Plenty of time for both!
This will be a rain or shine event with a tent provided if necessary. Tickets are limited to the first 100 brothers, yet seating can accommodate up to 125 if needed. Please note that there is an approximate 78-step, albeit gradual, stairwell down to the cave’s entrance for the degree.
There are amazing views and the sun will be setting close to the start of the degree. With a fire pit and tiki torches used for lighting, it will make for a spectacular display during the degree. Dress is business casual.
The food is great, the views are gorgeous, and the fellowship is always plentiful. It is a well-attended meeting that you do not want to miss. This is going to be a great night for Freemasonry, so get your tickets now because they plan to go fast. You can get your tickets by visiting Ephrata Lodge No. 665’s website, or talk with your District Deputy Grand Master.
